REDRUM
aka RUM of the FLATLINERZ
Jamel “Redrum” Simmons stands as one of the most iconic and influential voices in underground hip hop. A founding member and frontman of The Flatlinerz, Redrum is widely recognized as a pioneer of the Horrorcore genre, a creative revolutionary whose vision reshaped the boundaries of rap music in the 1990s and beyond.
Born into hip hop royalty as the nephew of Def Jam co-founder Russell Simmons and RUN DMC legend Joseph “Rev Run” Simmons, Redrum forged his own path through bold lyricism, fearless thematic exploration, and a uniquely theatrical delivery. His voice is sharp, commanding, ritualistic and became the defining sound of Flatlinerz’ groundbreaking debut under Def Jam Recordings.
Redrum’s writing blends horror cinema, occult symbolism, and hardcore East Coast lyricism into a dark, cinematic narrative style that inspired generations of underground artists. His influence extends across rap, metal, and alternative culture, and his work remains a cornerstone of the global Horrorcore movement.
Onstage, Redrum is a commanding presence, charismatic, intense, and electrifying. His performances fuse storytelling, energy, and precision, elevating every show into a theatrical experience.
With decades of legacy and innovation behind him, Redrum continues to expand the Flatlinerz universe through new music, collaborations, and multimedia storytelling under the Horror House Entertainment imprint. His voice remains one of the most recognizable and respected in the darker corners of hip hop culture.
